Virtual consultations (VCs) have been used effectively in oncology to increase communication with patients. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of VCs in head and neck cancer care. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective chart review of patients evaluated at our head and neck cancer clinic over a 6-month period from July to December 2017. Results: Patients were between 18 and 80 years old, were undergoing treatment for oropharyngeal cancer, and had been referred to a VC. Patients reported their satisfaction and recommendations regarding the VCs. Among 34 patients, 23 were seen in the clinic. The VCs lasted an average of 16 minutes. Patients were rated as very satisfied and felt confident the consultation would be useful in managing their cancer care. Conclusions: VCs for head and neck cancers are feasible in oncology clinics.
