The goal of the retrospective qualitative research ended up being to examine the effect of monoracial Ebony or White moms and dads’ racial socialization methods regarding the procedure of biracial identification development for his or her Black-White biracial kids. Information had been obtained through in-person, semi-structured interviews with ten White monoracial moms and 11 of the adult (many years 18–40) biracial young ones. The phenomenological analysis of participants’ experiences raising biracial young ones and growing up biracial revealed two overarching themes of racial socialization techniques reaching and affecting biracial identification development: producing a biracial household identity and navigating biracial using the outside globe.
